The Swatch Irony Windfall Chronograph Swiss Quartz YCS410GX Men's Watch is a chronograph watch for men who prefer stark contrasts and utility over flashy designs and ornamentations. It is a fashionable piece all right, but it's more of the restrained, serious fashion that gels into any surrounding or setting. Its black dial and large silver hands, numerals, dots and markers stand out against the gray dial, offering maximum visibility. Built entirely from solid stainless steel, it is poles apart from the usual Swatch that you know. It's the typical Swatch you can trust as much amidst wild environments as in work.
It's the classic sports look that makes the Windfall chronograph stand out from the rest of the Swatches. Apart from showing the time, it shows the date and the splits in time. Out of the three sub-dials, two are dedicated to the chronograph-time (chrono-minutes and chrono-milliseconds) along with the large seconds-hand. For the regular ticking of seconds, look at the sub-dial at 6'o clock. It's the same as any typical chronograph and by far, is the most preferred layout by the masses. The chronograph measures up to 1/10th of a second, which is not a very common feature at this price range. Anything more than that for a regular, urban-usage watch would prove a bit unrealistic. However, it's also more advanced than many of its competitors; it offers a 'Split mode' operation that allows you to capture a timing while it continues to measure the overall elapsed time. This is a very useful feature if you are into physical activities; say, aerobics or weight training. In fact for anything where you need to better your performance! Upon resetting, all the hands will fly back to the 'home' position, which you can set. It's not necessary that it starts from the 12'o clock position.
The chronograph is undoubtedly the main feature of the Swatch Classic Chronograph Swiss Quartz YCS410GX Men's Watch, but unless a watch can put up well with its basic functions, it is of little use. The Swatch Irony Windfall Chronograph Swiss Quartz YCS410GX Men's Watch scores exceptionally in that department also! Plus, the luminous strips and the tachymeter inscribed on the outer rim are added features that add value and more functionality to the watch. The tachymeter allows measuring and also adds a nice visual touch. If you want to go drag-racing sometimes, it will come to max use.
The 'date'; however, is a fairly basic function and you need to adjust manually the odd and even months. But the luminous strips are bright and stay that way for few hours in the dark.
Not many watches come with a plastic/steel combination for the bracelet; this one does. It's a nice deviation from the set norms and imparts a contrasting two-tone approach to it, which looks quite nice. The Swatch double-fold clasp is present here as well; in terms of additional protection, it is fabulous!
Overall, a pretty solid and well built watch with a usable chronograph and trendy visuals that are going to win most people over!
